Vintage ALTEC 12 AlNiCo 417-8C 70s Speaker - Santana-ish Sound, VGC, Tested. This is an Altec Lansing 417-8C 12 Alnico speaker from the early 1970s. Made in Anaheim, California, USA. The speaker code is 391252 indicating a manufacture date of 1972, 52nd week.

Altec rates this speaker at 75 watts continuous at 8 ohms with a 3 edge-sound voice coil. Frequency range is 60Hz - 8000Hz. NOTE: Aluminum dust cap is JBL, not Altec. This speaker was bench tested with my 18-watt Hammond amp and found to be in excellent function condition. Measures 7.6 ohms on my digital volt-meter.

Very loud, crisp and clear. This speaker has been re-coned at some point in time. The bell-cover badge is original for that year, as are the slot-head screws. Very clean for its age. Ive had this speaker since 1974 where it was used with my Fender Rhodes suitcase piano and later in my Roland KC-120 amp.

Great vintage speakers like these are difficult to find! Im not a shop or a store, just a guy who has collected stuff over the years and whose understanding wife has asked for space in her house back!
