1966 Fender Super Reverb Blackface Tube Amp Ceramic Speakers, Export Transformer

  
Up for sale, a 1966 Fender Super Reverb in excellent condition and in good working order, with a rare export power transformer capable of worldwide voltages. The amp features its original quad of ceramic 10 CTS speakers, pushing 40 watts of pure Fender Blackface clean tone via a pair of 6L6 power tubes. Perfect for gigging situations and an ideal recording amplifier, the amp provides pristine, muscly Fender cleans until you hit the 4-5 range on the volume dial, where a bit of tube and speaker breakup send the amp into smooth overdrive. The reverb is lush and deep, and the tremolo has a nice pulse, with everything from swampy and slow to machine gun fast tremolo.

The circuit boasts a well-maintained preamp, with original coveted blue molded Ajax tone caps and the majority of stock CTS pots which date to mid-1966. The original Schumacher transformer compliment is intact, all dating to early'66 including the rare export power transformer, coupled to the large red rotary voltage selector knob on the back of the chassis. The power cable has been upgraded to a modern three-prong for safety's sake, and the power supply features fresh high quality Sprague Atom filter caps. The amp features a pair of new JJ 6L6GC power tubes which are properly biased and sound great with tight low end and dynamic, clear tone. The chassis itself is very clean, as is the original blackface faceplate and stock witch hat knobs.

During the original Blackface run, the Super Reverb was typically offered with more common CTS alnico 10s and was very rarely seen with a set of ceramic speakers (like our early'66 here). This ceramic CTS speaker quad is completely original, with clean frames, stock speaker cones, and the the original harness. The Supers equipped with ceramic speakers on a whole have a bit more headroom and punch, with a midrange clarity that you simply can't get with the more common speaker compliment.

The original smooth black tolex and silver sparkle grillcloth are in remarkable shape, with only very minor wear around the edges of the cabinet. The original nickel corners, sphinx glides (feet), chassis straps, chrome pat.

Pending tilt-back legs, and raised "Fender" logo are present, and all hardware is in excellent shape. The tube chart is mostly intact too. This rare and well-maintained iteration of the Super Reverb platform with export power transformer and ceramic speaker quad is freshly serviced with new power tubes and a clean bill of health.
